Network Engineer - Enterprise & Industrial Lifecycle

Our client is seeking an experienced OT Network Engineer to support critical network lifecycle, discovery, and infrastructure upgrade projects across multiple manufacturing sites throughout Europe and the UK.

• Start Date: January
• Duration: 12-month contract
• Remote-based role with extensive travel across Europe and the UK.
• Approximately 70% travel required.
• Travel expenses fully covered.
• Valid EU passport and driving licence required.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lifecycle, migration, and deployment projects across enterprise and industrial network environments.
• Install and configure Cisco Catalyst 9000 and Cisco Industrial Ethernet switching infrastructure.
• Support manufacturing sites through network audits, documentation, and upgrade planning.
• Maintain reliable Layer 2/3 network services, ensuring production uptime and operational continuity.
• Create network diagrams, asset inventories, and Bills of Materials (BoMs) to support future lifecycle initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience with Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series switching platforms.
• Good working knowledge of Cisco Industrial Ethernet (IE) solutions.
• Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking expertise, including:
  • STP
  • VLANs
  • LACP
  • VRFs
  • Enterprise switching technologies
• Experience within manufacturing, industrial, plant-floor, or production environments.
• Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or similar.
• Strong documentation skills with advanced Microsoft Visio experience.
• Experience conducting infrastructure audits and producing detailed asset inventories and BoMs.
• Ability to work independently at operational sites and engage effectively with production and engineering teams.
